Campus Ministry Initiatives                                                        2011/2012

 

Friendly House – interact with kids from Friendly House; incorporate these kids at Holy Name through a varsity basketball event. 

 

 Prison Fellowship – support young children with parents in prison through letter writing and offering prayers and support. 

 

Food Preparation – prepare dinners for Crozer House and Jeremiah’s Inn.  Library

 

Students Environmentally Aware – recycling, trail maintenance, exploring environmental issues and raising awareness. 

 

Campus Upkeep – cleaning and landscaping of the grounds at Holy Name, maintenance of iconography. 

 

 Babies Become the Future – crochet blankets for the babies at Visitation House. 

 

Holy Name Food Pantry – supply and maintain a food pantry at Holy Name for the school and greater community. 

 

Counter-culture Club – take personal inventories of consumption and contribution and research better ways of living and advocate for these changes.  

 

Liturgy Team – prepare for and serve at school Masses and provide morning prayer as well as other prayer activities. 

 

HN Big Brother/Big Sister – adopt a classroom at Union Hill School for mentoring and tutoring. 

 

Animal Rescue – raise awareness concerning abandoned animals and volunteer at animal shelters. 

 

Yellow Ribbon Group – support our troops through letter writing and care packages. 

 

Youth Literacy – helping children learn to read at St. Agnes Guild. 

 

Be Like Brit – participate in events coordinated by the Be Like Brit organization which is building an orphanage in Haiti in memory of Britney Gengel. 

 

Habitat for Humanity – work on homes in Central Mass for people in need. 

 

Scarves for St. John’s – knit scarves for St. Johns Parish on Temple Street. 

 

Parish Carnival Games – invent, design and build games and props for church bazaars. 

 

Acoustic Music Outreach – singers, songwriter, and musicians will practice and perform in the community at religious events. 

 

Interfaith Worker Justice – will explore and raise awareness regarding issues such as anti-wage theft, the plight of immigrants and Muslims, the role of labor unions in promoting social justice, and compensation for unemployed. 

 

Chamber Music – Instrumental group will perform in nursing homes and other venues. 

                             

Holy Name Challenge – inspired by Rachel’s Challenge, this group will inspire acts of paying it forward. 

 

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Upkeep – help sustain the Vietnam Veterans memorial at Green Hill Park. 

 

Making Combat Rosaries – to send to our troops. 

 

Hospital Outreach – visit and support sick children in the hospital.
